NAPCO NATIONAL FOCUSES ON PARTNER SUPPORT IN ITS OCTOBER BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

In October 2019, Napco National launched a breast cancer awareness campaign under the name ‘Because You Love Her’, which aimed to educate employees about the importance of regular breast screening in the prevention and early treatment of breast cancer, along with the vital role that support can play. As part of international Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Napco National takes the opportunity every year to raise awareness among its staff on the preventative measures that can help fight the disease, which is the most commonly occurring cancer affecting women worldwide. This year, Napco National’s campaign targeted its male employees specifically, educating them on the importance of screening and the support they can provide to partners or family members already suffering from the disease.

The ‘Because You Love Her’ campaign, shared with Napco National employees via email, included a visual guide to breast self-examination, infographics and valuable information developed in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Health. For instance, the campaign highlighted that all women over 40 years of age, and younger women with a history of breast cancer in the family, should take regular mammograms.

Napco National also shared a video with 10 tips on how to support a partner suffering from breast cancer, as well as the personal story of doctor Othman Al Tuwairqi and his partner Reema Abdullatif’s successful battle against cancer. In addition, Napco National provided free breast checkups for all of its female employees, as well as partners or female family members, in collaboration with Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi Centre of Excellence in Breast Cancer in Jeddah, May Al Jaber Cancer Detection Centre in Dammam, and Saudi Cancer Society in Riyadh.
