As environmental destruction and depleting resources become among the most pressing issues of our time, society is under immense pressure to support a young and growing population and to find renewable solutions. Saudi-based manufacturing company, Napco National has committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility and is currently working on setting its five year sustainability strategy. Each year, Napco National will review and communicate the impact of its program, which will pave the way to the company’s 2025 Sustainability Pledge.

Enviromental Sustainability

Napco National is committed to creating a circular economy of plastics where plastic scrap is collected from its plants and customers in Saudi Arabia and recycled in order to reduce carbon emissions and divert plastics destined for landfills. In Jeddah and Dammam, the company has invested in facilities, as well as waste collection, sorting and cleaning equipment to recycle plastic scrap.

Napco National also focuses on sustainable raw material. The company’s paper and corrugated packaging companies source raw materials from chain-of-custody certified sources. Napco National’s plastic packaging manufacturing branches also use renewable mineral fillers, such as calcium carbonate, to reduce use of virgin fossil-fuel-based raw materials.

Social Responsibility

Napco National employs over 5,200 people across the Gulf region and is committed to providing decent and safe working conditions for its employees.

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace are key to Napco National’s programme of social responsibility, which provides quality employment and a safe work environment for people of all backgrounds. The company actively works to increase social impact by employing and empowering women and people with disabilities.

As part of its focus on women’s physical and emotional wellbeing, Napco National also works with regional media, associations and educational institutions to increase awareness of menstrual hygiene, early breast cancer detection and positive self-image, while providing access to feminine hygiene products.

Nurturing childhood development is another strand of Napco National’s social responsibility programme. The company has established partnerships with local and international organisations, NGOs and the media to promote and support early childhood education, which is instrumental to health, education, cognitive ability and emotional development.
