Fam spreads awareness on puberty in UAE schools

Leading Gulf-region feminine hygiene brand Fam recently launched an educational campaign to spread awareness about hygiene practices and menstrual health among female students in the UAE who are approaching puberty age. As part of its women wellness initiative, Fam’s team visited Emirates International School in Meadows in Dubai, on 25 February, 2019, to deliver its awareness campaign on menstrual health and well-being to students from G5 and G6 classes.

The educational session included a medical presentation delivered by two doctors from the obstetrics and gynaecology departments of the Saudi German Hospital in Dubai and the screening of Fam’s creative video informing students on the physical and mental changes of puberty and period symptoms such as pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS).

The video advised on hygiene and comfort tips during menstruation, such as using a natural cotton-feel pad and methods of period pain relief, as well as shared lifestyle and nutrition habits that help maintain energy, hygiene and health.

With an aim to normalise the period cycle and reassure girls about the changes that come with puberty, the educational video follows two teenagers sharing their worries and Fam’s advice over WhatsApp. In addition to covering the different stages of puberty, it included a Q&A section that highlights the dos and don’ts during the period cycle.

At the end of the presentation, students were offered free samples of Fam feminine pads and Freshdays pantyliners.
